Frequently Asked Questions
Will I get paid overtime?
Yes. Overtime is paid at 1.5 times your regular hourly rate for every hour worked over 40 hours in a workweek, in accordance with applicable U.S. labor laws.
How much can I expect to earn?
Premier Aquatics cannot guarantee how much money you will earn, as your total income depends on your hourly rate, hours worked, and length of employment. However, you can use the following formula to estimate your earnings:
(40 hours/week × regular hourly rate) + (5–10 overtime hours/week × overtime rate) × number of weeks worked – approximately 20% for taxes
Actual earnings may vary based on staffing needs, weather conditions, and individual schedules.
Will someone meet me at the airport?
Yes. A Premier Aquatics representative will meet you at either Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) or Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA). Participants should be prepared to wait up to four hours at the airport while arrival coordination takes place.
How far away is my apartment from my job?
Housing assignments vary based on your work location. The distance between your housing and job site can range from less than one mile to approximately six miles, depending on your placement.
What happens if I don't pass the swim test?
You will have two opportunities to complete the swim assessment on the day of testing. If you are unable to pass after both attempts, you will be advised to explore alternative job opportunities that do not require lifeguard certification.
Can I change my job after I arrive in the U.S.A?
No. Participants are expected to work for the employer listed on their job offer and program documentation. You are obligated to work for the employer with whom you signed your contract.
Can I find a 2nd job?
Yes. You are permitted to find a second job, provided it does not interfere with your responsibilities, performance, or scheduled hours at Premier Aquatics. Your commitment to your primary position must always remain the priority
Can I change housing?
No. Participants are required to live in the housing provided by Premier Aquatics. Housing assignments are coordinated to support transportation, staffing, and operational needs throughout the season.
In which city will I live?
We cannot guarantee the exact city where you will be placed. Participants are typically assigned housing within an approximate 80-mile radius of Washington, D.C., depending on their job location and housing availability.
Can I arrive later than my job offer start date?
No. Your job offer is valid only for the dates listed in your offer documents. If you arrive after the designated start date, Premier Aquatics cannot guarantee that a position will still be available.
How long can I work?
Every participant’s situation is unique. Your employment dates will be determined based on your DS-2019 program dates, operational needs, and your individual availability throughout the summer season.
When do I get paid?
Employees are paid on a regular bi-weekly payroll schedule. Paychecks are typically issued according to the payroll calendar provided during onboarding. If you have questions regarding a missing paycheck, you should contact the Premier Aquatics office using the dates outlined in the payroll schedule.
